Jesus | The Savior | Philippians 2:6-8

Jesus | The Savior | Philippians 2:6-8

Jesus – The Savior

Jesus is more than a teacher or prophet—He is the Savior of the world. The Scriptures show His humility, His sacrifice, His command to love, and His promise of eternal life for all who believe.

The Humility of the Savior

Philippians 2:6–8Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be used for His own advantage. Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross.

The Savior set aside His glory, took on flesh, and chose the cross.

Love Your God

Mark 12:28–31 – Jesus declared the greatest commandment: to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself.

Deuteronomy 7:9Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands.
Romans 8:28We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Proverbs 4:23Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.
Deuteronomy 6:6These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart.
Deuteronomy 11:18Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds, bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol on your foreheads.

Loving God is not just emotion—it is obedience, trust, and guarding our hearts.

Love Your Neighbor

Leviticus 19:9–18 – The law called God’s people to care for others, show justice, and love their neighbor as themselves.

The command to love finds its fulfillment in Christ:

  • Hebrews 10:14With one sacrifice Christ made His people perfect forever. They are the ones who are being made holy.

  • 2 Timothy 1:10And now it has been shown to us in the coming of our Savior Christ Jesus. He destroyed death and showed us the way to have life. Yes, through the Good News Jesus showed us the way to have life that cannot be destroyed.

  • Luke 22:69But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the Power of God.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:10For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless.

  • Revelation 21:4He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death, sadness, crying, or pain. All the old ways are gone.

  • John 14:1–3Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.

Through His death, resurrection, and promise of return, Jesus has shown us the way of love and life eternal.

Final Reflection

Jesus, the Savior, calls us to love God fully and love others sacrificially. His humility on the cross brings us salvation, His resurrection gives us life, and His promise assures us of eternal joy with Him.
