TEARS
by Nancy Hopper
Tears
Come from a deep well
In my soul.
The tears rise
Out of the well
In a bucket of deep dark pain
Oh a groaning chain
Into a hot dry wind of grief
The tears rise
Out of the well
In a fountain of laughter
And spill over and sparkle
On the petals of flowers
The tears overflow
From the well
Rising out of the springs of emotion
The tears wash away the pain
They soak into the joy
And cause it to bloom
They recede
And leave peace
And leave weariness
Beautiful poem.
