Fireflies

“Let’s walk outside,” Mom said,
“In the warm, summer night,
To see what magic we find
In the dark around.”

In the warm moonlight
We went and said things
Quietly telling that day.
We walked and then stopped
To see a wonder,
A place magic in the dark.
A thousand thousand fireflies
Lit around a ring of trees,
And winked and glowed
In the warm, summer night.
